Él no

Our last day in Gyor!
Our last day in Gyor!
The morning prayer was led by Taiwanese group. The theme of today was “Happy are those who announce mercy”. We have experienced God´s Reign these days! The universal communion or
fraternity is possible when Risen Jesus is in our midst and when he lets us experience the Father´s Mercy. This is what we are called to live and announce once these days are over.
The sharing groups and workshops took place afterwards. The whole day was marked by fraternal
sharing. The exposition about the Verbum Dei Identity and Mission allowed us to nibble on different
sweets brought by different countries :)
The celebration of Eucharist took place in Holy Spirit parish, close to the place where we are staying. The parish priest father Ferenc gave us a warm welcome. He expressed his gratitude for choosing Gyor for the place of our encounter. Twelve participants of the encountered shared with us their experience of these days. During the offertory lead by african liturgical dance, we offered the Lord all of our experiences expressed in one word. These words were written on the ribbons that were part of our symbol – heart, during the encounter.
Lucia Herrerias, the president of our community closed the Eucharistic celebration by thanking the organizers of the pre-ecounter for their self-giving and the parish for their welcoming. The male and female missionaries have been preparing this event for more than a year.
Special thanks went to the Budapest community, in particular to the three missionaries: Barbara, Iria and Suzanne who courageously offered their country to make this dream happen. We also gave thanks to God and Lucia invited all of us not to hesitate in following of Jesus. When He calls, follow him! He won’t fail you and nobody else can be as generous as He is.
The missionary festival is taking place right now. We will leave for Auschwitz tomorrow at the daybreak carrying Hungary in our hearts.

3rd Day in Györ
3rd Day in Györ
We continue in Györ, discovering Father’s project for all nations: one
Family – daughters, sons and siblings in Jesus.
We started the day together in prayer.
The reflections in different language
groups followed. The invitation of God of Mercy that manifested himself in
Jesus is to come out of our indiference and to become neighbors to every person
that we meet. Jesus comes close to all of us, compassionatelly, without judging
anybody, he lifts up those who fall, those who are at the margins, offering his
forgiveness always and without any condition.
Jesus is the entrance to God’s
compassionate heart that is why we started the celebration of Eucharist
entering through the door of Mercy, asking
for the strenght to live the Kingdom.
Various worshops filled our aftenoon. We also had an opportunity to
experience the Mercy through the sacrament of reconciliation. We were invited
to identify all that doesn’t fully allow us to be who we are meant to be, all
that enslaves us and doens’t let us to fully unfold the capacity to love that
God has given us.
The highlight of the day has been the Vigil of Mercy; music, art, lights
helped us to become aware of the presence of the Risen Christ in our midst. He
is the one who lifts up the barriers of our fears, inviting us to offer him our
masks and offering us his peace in return.
During the adoration we have prayed for peace in our world as we have received the news of the attack in
Munich... We have prayed to the Lord of Peace who has shared his Spirit with us
to give us His peace so we can share it and build it in our environments.
contagiar a nuestro alrededor.

2nd Day in Györ.
2nd Day in Györ.
Today we came in to contact with the culture of the Hungarians here who
have been so welcoming to all of us. We have also seen some of the depths of
their faith, and learned a little of their history… a story that has been
marked by different invasions and hardships.
We visited some important parts of the city. We saw their basillica which
was built in a Roman style and which has been destroyed several time through
different invasions but each time rebuilt through the tenacity of the local
people.
We went to the Bishop’s palace where we learned the story of Blessed
Apor Vilmos, a 20th century Bishop of whom the boarding school we are staying
at is named after.
This holy man was killed by some Russian soldiers in 1945
while protecting some innocent women, and his life has had a profound effect on
the people of the city. We visited some underground places in which many Jews
were given refuge from the Gestapo during the German occupation. Later these
places provided further refuge by allowing all of the women of the city a
chance to escape from falling into the hands of the Russian soldiers during the
Soviet occupation.
We also celebrated the Eucharist in the basillica with the auxilary Bishop,
monsignour Székely János. His homily impacted us all with his many personal
stories and testimony. He explained to us how a profound faith can have a
positive impact in every situation, as shown by the people here in the midst of
continued persecution.
We ended the day with an amazing festival of Hangarian dancing which we all
enjoyed immensely. This style of dancing was very joyful, very fast and got us all
laughing and sweating! Thus we finished this eventful day quite tired, but all of
us very content.
